Screening Tenants - Protecting Your Most Valuable Asset

Taking the time to screen applicants effectively can help to significantly reduce problems in the future while also increasing your returns by eliminating damage and evictions. A rental application is a good starting point for any Landlord, but there are limits. About

Taking the time to screen applicants effectively can help to significantly reduce problems in the future while also increasing your returns by eliminating damage and evictions. A rental application is a good starting point for any Landlord, but there are limits. It is far too easy for an applicant to manipulate or even falsify the information they provide on a rental application. For example:

  • How do you know if the Landlord References provided on the rental application aren’t falsified?
  • How can you be sure that the Address History provided is accurate?
  • Are the bank statements they provided showing proof of income legitimate?
  • Have you checked their employment history and verified their income?

Beyond the rental application, other tools can help you paint a full picture of your applicant. A credit report, a criminal report, and an eviction report. In this Webinar, we provide you with a roadmap to protecting your most valuable asset – your brick n’ mortar rental property!

To avoid any pitfalls, we’ll also cover the prohibited questions and areas to avoid as you screen applicants. Join us on August 30th as we explore these topics together!

Meet the Presenters

Matt Angerer

Matt Angerer is a landlord, Software Analyst, and Co-Founder of VerticalRent. In 2011, Matt and his business partner launched VerticalRent to help the under served independent landlord community. In a few short years, landlords from every corner of the United States were using VerticalRent! Beyond real estate and his passion for software, Matt stays active by chasing his kids and working out at the gym.

G. Brian Davis

G. Brian Davis is a long-time landlord and real estate investor who’s owned dozens of properties over the last 15 years. He now enjoys teaching others how to invest in and manage rental properties just as much as investing itself! With the flexibility allowed by his rental income and online coaching, Brian now splits his time between the US and traveling overseas. He visited ten countries over the last year, and looks forward to another ten over the next year!

Denise (Deni) Supplee

Denise (Deni) Supplee is a landlord, property manager, and Realtor, who has been managing rental properties for over 36 years and remains active to this day. While there a million reasons she loves the rental industry, her favorite is the flexibility it’s afforded her to be available for her family. Between five children, nine (and a half – another’s on the way!) grandchildren, a stubborn bulldog and an even more stubborn husband, Deni is lucky to call her own shots in managing her properties and time.
